I am a lifelong resident of Southeastern Indiana and have resided in Dillsboro with my wife Jane for the past decade. I am a proud father of two daughters, Bailey and Kasey Baker. Dedication to community and service have always been a priority; devoting 30 years to the Rising Sun Lions Club, and 41 years to the Sons of the American Legion where I am currently treasurer for the Dillsboro SAL. For over 40 years, I have been a licensed official for high school basketball and softball. I particularly enjoy officiating youth games at the elementary and middle school levels.
Presently, I am serving on the Dearborn County Council (District 3) and Dearborn County Redevelopment. My prior experience includes a 20-year tenure as a County Council member in Ohio County. I was elected to the Dillsboro Town Council on two occasions, serving as President of the board for three years. During my leadership, the Town of Dillsboro was a recipient of the Stellar Pathways award, which brought approximately $8.1 million to Dillsboro, Greendale, Dearborn County, and other organizations.
I offer a wealth of proven leadership, experience, accountability, transparency, and dedication, coupled with a practical and sensible approach to county governance.
In my conversations with voters I emphasize the importance of the county continuing to provide opportunities for all residents, especially the youth, fostering an environment where they can live, grow, and establish their own families.
I am dedicated to ensuring the safety of residents, advocating for lower taxes, fostering job creation, and supporting affordable housing initiatives.
As I have stated before, “I believe my extensive background in county government budgeting will be vital in delivering essential services, including law enforcement, highway maintenance, infrastructure, public safety, and more, all while staying within budgetary constraints.”
